So decided to make a blog to follow the work I will be doing on Re-building the Goulburn Model Railway Club's original layout Argyle.
Recently the members of Goulburn Railway club acquired an existing show layout. Originally for exhibitions, it then resulted in replacing the original 30 year old layout. The layout consists Goulburn yard and station form Mundy St bridge to the blackshaw Rd level crossing, then passing through the fictitious town of Argyle and back. The Argyle layout being in a mostly dismantled state since the move from the Workers Arena to the current location at the Goulburn Roundhouse. Due to the age, huge amount of work and expences involved in trying to restore Argyle, The club came to the decision to offer Argyle for sale and if no one was interested would have been scrapped by the end of the year. This was to make room for the newer layout to be kept up permanently and allow work on a smaller exhibition layout.
After being warned it would be a fools errand to try and restore Argyle I put my hand up to buy the layout, several trips with a car trailer and much exhaustion all main pieces of this layout now reside in storage in the shed. Construction of this layout is mostly hardwood, chipboard and plaster. As you can imagine since most pieces range  from 1m X 3m to 2m X 4m in length it weighs an absolute TON!.
So once room has been made to start setting it up my goal is to restore and repair Goulburns original railway layout. so not to lose this piece of local history. I promise i will post photos very soon.
